[WTB] Sega Saturn CD Drive (VA6-9 mobo)

by Saskatoonguy Wed May 12, 2021 8:14 am

I need a replacement drive for a Sega Saturn. I am looking for the .0014 board revision from a Model 2. It uses a 21-pin ribbon cable and is compatible with a VA6-9 motherboard. A Sanyo drive works as well. Region does not matter.

I paid $8 for a working CD drive years ago. I just got a broken Saturn for $17~ compared to $10 years ago. I am more than willing to pay a fair price but I am not going to pay the $50+ that fellow on Ebay wants for his 20-pin drives. Probably just get a Fenrir at that price...

I know this is a long shot but I found one here before, years ago. Please let me know if you've got one.

My friend installed an ODE on his Saturn recently - I think he has the 21-pin revision. I believe the reason was his drive wasn't reading burns perfectly anymore, but the last time I saw it installed it seemed fine. We're in BC, Canada so shipping might make it not worth while, but I could ask him if he'd let it go for a few bucks...

Please do. I am in Saskatchewan so shipping would likely be pretty affordable. Ha ha.

I am no longer looking for a drive. I have my Saturn up and running again.
