ok, so today i was playing a backup japese game, and it worked as usual, but then after a cutscene, my game just froze! so i resetted the sytstem, and when it tried to boot the disc it said "checking disc format" at the cd screen! so then i switched out that game for other backups, same result! then i kept doing it again and on the 4th or 5th time, it worked again........

First thuing I would do is check to make sure all the connections are solid and this chip is properly seated all the way...

It could be because you didn't solder the wire to the to the mobo like you said here:

persona21 wrote:yes it was because of the edges that need filing :D

everything works now, even tho i didn't solder the blue wire to the 14th pin: i just wrapped the exposed wire around the pin leg thingy

You should really solder them together the wire may have become lose and touched another wire. Im really gonna recommend you use the AB method

if you didn solder

i didn solder the wires..but it is possible to make the mod chip work..granted that needs some the red wire isnt much of a problem since its easy to wedge it in..the blue one however is not so easy since it has to make contact with the 14th pin just right..the best way i found was to make the saturn think the lid is closed (as instructed in the swap trick) then try to place the blue wire right and then turn the saturn on with a cd..if the lens doesnt move or it does move but does not boot the cd..turn the saturn off and adjust the blue wire again..and repeat until the game works..and i repeat that needs if you get the game to can leave the saturn open altho i wouldn recomend that..but try to put the lid back on carefully since the blue wire is very sensetive..and i wouldn bother with screwing the lid back in place since there is a good chance you might need to adjust the wire again..and try not to move the saturn around to much since any small movement could move the blue wire..and then its the whole process again.

And i know this isnt the best way to mod the saturn but it is possible and i am going to solder the wires when i have the chance :D

Like CurulleanCat said... you can avoid the whole problem of the blue wire but cutting it off. Then look at your chip where the blue wire was connected and you'll see that it is on a solder pad named "A" and just to the right of it is another solder pad named "B". Connect the two together with the wire... or just a dab of solder across it and everything will work just fine.

what the hell.....

so i beat gundam side story 1 (game i mentioned above), so then i burned gundam side story 2 to play.
ok, well after i beat the first mission, theres a cutscene, and after that, the damn system froze again!

its always after a cutscene after i beat the mission too! and then i try to play other burned games, they don't work

i try to play retail games, they ALSO DON'T WORK!

i opeened up the system, everything seems fine, blue wire is connected/making contat w/ pin 14.......

what is up with this? how come my regular games don't work either? oh, and the difference between the gundam games and my other burned games is that the gundam games are burned w/ alcohol 100% cuz they were in RAW mode when i tried to patch them.

i've heard of the a and b solution, but i'm prolly gonna fry the chip that way :(

i reconnected the blue wire, holding with my hand (so the top of the saturn is off), and finally the cd spins when i press power, BUT, it says "checking disc format"! jesus, i think my modchip is dead....seriously

no the chip is problaby not dead (i thought the same thing when i tried modding my satrun :P ) you could check if its all the way in since its needs a good push..but if the disc spins but it freezes on checking disc format..means you are getting close..also it did work for me to bend the end of the blue wire a bit so i could hook it to the 14th pin..also the wire is very sensetive and remember this can take some time..but if you follow my previous post here you should get the saturn working eventually :D

Seriousily dude... you need to freakin' grow the balls and solder the damn thing down.

A poor connection is a POOR connection. Taping, holding, any of that is NOT a good connection and is gonna be a testy lil' bitch. Solder the freaking thing down and it WILL work. Due the AB method and quit your bitching.
