IRC = Instant Relay Chat (google or wiki it)

In English = Chatrooms you can connect to.

You can use a standalone client (such a mIRC) or use a embedded flash client to connect to it. RB has one hosted at everywherechat.com, you can connect to it by clicking the "IRC Chat" button on the same row as User Control Panel.

Actually, I never knew one existed for racketboy.com... maybe it should be on the front page? if it is already in plain sight, please tell me of my ignorance.

Also, I'm trying to connect, i guess default port 6667... not working.
Can someone point me and others to the specifics on connecting to the everywhere chat server, etc?

Ok here is how you connect:

First, go to everywherechat.com, click join chat button. Enter your nickname, and under channel put "racketboy". forget the password dialog, you'll come back to that. once you are in the chat, click the options down arrow and hit register nickname. Go ahead and register your nick and password, but dont forget it! Now close the window.

When you start up your IRC program (I'm using mIRC) it will ask you for the server to connect. put in:


nickname: whatever you registered it as.
server: irc.everywherechat.com
port:6667 (default and make sure your firewall has it unblocked)



It will attempt to connect now. the following will show up as instructions by the server:

NickServ- This nickname is registered and protected. If it is your
-
-NickServ- nick, type /msg NickServ IDENTIFY password. Otherwise,
-
-NickServ- please choose a different nick.

go ahead and type this:

/msg nickserv identify (put your password here that you set up before)

If successful, this will appear:


* NickServ sets mode: +r
-
-NickServ- Password accepted - you are now recognized.
-
* NickServ sets mode: -u


now, you want to get on the Racketboy channel, right? now type this:


/join #racketboy


and another small window should pop up, showing all the other people in the chat! congrats, you are now in! But remember, you can either be in the channel through mIRC or through the browser one at a time with your registration, not at the same time! it will refuse your connection!
