This answer probably comes way too late but it doesn't really matter which way you do it at that point. Only thing that it affects is making the bs last boss easier. Trials of the Luremaster is pretty awful content btw. If you don't need to have complete experience i would advice to skip it.

Only slightly late! I ended up beating Icewind Dale yesterday and then imported into Heart of Winter. I'm now slaughtering Barrow wights on Burial Isle.

Well, I wrapped up the Heart of Winter expansion, so I do intend to give the Trial of the Luremaster dungeon a shot. I'll see how I feel about it once I've done some damage on it.

As I am now playing through Ravenloft: Strahd's Possession, I'm struck by how open the world feels. Yes, there is only one town, and areas are generally limited in size, but outside of gathering necessary keys to open up dungeons, I am free to go about the world as I wish. I even found a side quest before I had gotten access to the first primary dungeon. This is driving my interest in going back to previously explored areas to see if I can find more.

Right now my party consists of a Fighter/Thief, Cleric, Mage, and Fighter/Thief/Mage. The full Mage is my caster and range specialist, while the FTM serves as more of a support role. The Cleric is both a healer and tank, and she has many necessary spells and abilities for tackling the numerous undead enemies. The FT is a frontline tank, though I wish I had gone just full Fighter with him for gear purposes, especially since I don't need another Thief with the FTM NPC party member.

This game has a lower level cap than my experience in Icewind Dale. I can tell this due to spell lists capping out at level 6; Mages tap out at level 9 spells in D&D, so I am probably able to hit around...level 12 or so, I'm guessing. Since there is party porting to Ravenloft: Stone Project, I wonder how the level cap gets changed.

I started Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Böse on the Sony Playstation 2 this afternoon!

I beat Xenosaga Episode I a few years ago with a friend of mine. While out shopping together, we saw Xenosaga Episode II at two different stores, so we decided to go in together for the next chapter. Eventually, I found Episode III at a convention, so I'm all in on the series.

I really enjoyed the first game, though I did get a little lost on the story. However, I loved the characters and the battle system was very intriguing. I didn't mean being a little lost on the story as I understood the main threads, but it was the battle system that kept me coming back for more.

In Episode II, I'm again slightly lost in the story. However, I was so happy to see the characters from the first game make their return. Though, some of the sounded different, so I wonder if they got different voice actors. The same battle system returned, though they made some improvements and a bit more complex. I'm learning it slowly, but so far it has been pretty interesting.

So far, it's more Xenosaga, which is good in my book!

Currently playing Shining Force 3 episode 1 (translated version).
I just beat the Vandal in the house by the graveyard and have two characters at level 10. The next battle where the White Knights show up seems like a good place to level up a couple more characters to 10.
For those who played this, what do you think about power leveling before promoting? In SF 1 &2 I always wait until level 15 to promote. Is it worth it in this game too?

It's beneficial but not as important. In SF1 it was basically a requirement due to the very hard level cap involved. In SF2 it wasn't really necessary because you could level to 99 promoted; you basically would just keep people unpromoted until the experience gains dropped too much. In SF3 you have SF1 style hard caps again, but you also get a third promotion, and unlike SF1 they don't toss enough experience at you for you to max everyone without grinding (and there is a pre-final battle optional dungeon available in each scenario specifically for the purpose of grinding). If you're looking to do the Premium Disk (which is a bunch of challenge maps) then you definitely want to 20/20/20 your team, but if you're just looking for completion then I'd simply wait until the experience gains are low before promoting. Honestly, the bigger thing is you want to get your weapon levels up; when a character ranks up in a weapon they not only gain a second special attack, they gain a noticeable damage boost (which is bigger on the better weapons). So regular weapons give +3/6/9 damage while the best stuff gives +5/10/15 damage.

MrPopo,
I read a post on Segaextreme where people are power leveling. Those for it talked about it like the first game, others said if you promote ASAP at 10 you can get the best promotion at the end of all three scenarios. I don't plan on playing the premium disk, just the three main scenarios.
I currently have almost everyone at 10 and some at 11 and just finished the border fight and at Vagabond. Most characters were getting 1 xp on melee non kill attacks.
