I suggested this, but I think it was ignored because it's a remake of Rad Mobile.

Hyper 3D Taisen Battle: Gebockers

Good call. I actually though of Gebockers as well, but forgot to bring it up.

Assault Suits Leynos II: aware of, thought was considered pretty mainstream, but perhaps not, i'll add it to options list.
Gale Racer: as noise said, Rad Mobile which I thought was on 32X? What i'm seeing now is Sega System 32 arcade, not 32X, in which case - this is the exclusive console port, will add.
Hyper 3D Taisen Battle: Gebockers: every review of this is horrible and it's main "focus" is the use of the taisen connector cable, which requires 2 saturns, 2 copies of the game, and 2 tv's - think it's best to skip this one.
Ninku: Tsuyokina Yatsura no Daigekitotsu: this is a bad fighter, but it has funny characters, is cheap, and most probably haven't played it. Will add.
Seifuku Densetsu Pretty Fighter X: will add - thanks!

Also adding:
Heisei Tensai Bakabon Susume!

so many puzzle games! :D

Ok, I found another possible game. BLUE SEEDS is a card fighter RPG - like Pokemon TCG or Card Fighters Clash. So while dialogue is in Japanese, the battles are all card based and easy to play for English speakers.

From what I've read, it's perfectly playable if you don't know Japanese because the story isn't really important. You're just walking around looking for card players to challenge - like Pokemon TCG or Card Fighters Clash.

Mike, your Hearthstone skills would apply here.

Thoughts?

Also,

Fushigi Angelique is apparently some kind of board game based on Alice In Wonderland. Not sure if it could be import-friendly, but maybe one to look into?

Another title:

All Japan Pro Wrestling Featuring Virtua is interesting in that it includes AJPW wrestlers of the time with Virtua Fighter's Wolf and Jeffry. Haven't had a chance to play it, though.

There's 11 shmups. Just take those out.

But seriously, Dezaemon 2, as much as I'd love to try it out, may not work. IIRC, it requires a dedicated memory card (not the same one from the 4-in-1), so that'll make it very difficult for those wanting to play it on original hardware unless it's hard-modded.

Joe might be right. That sounds vaguely familiar.

I also think Clockwork Knight should bounce in favor of stuff that didn't get a US release. I know there's bonus modes or whatever, but that's not super interesting to me compared to a lot of the fully original titles we have here.

As for what else to chop - this is just me - I can't imagine I'll be willing to spend the $300+ that some of these are going for when we've got a lot of interesting stuff to choose from. I know we didn't want to make price a deciding factor, but just saying.

Removed Dezaemon 2 and Clockwork. 8 to go...

I don't want to remove the pricey titles based on price (like you said) - i mean, I don't think any of us are going to be there for all 52 weeks, so maybe that's just a week you casual observe (if a burn, rhea, or emulation isn't possible).

you know me, Cuz - I won't be emulating. But all good. I'm not fully expecting to (be able to afford to) participate in every one of the 52 weeks.

What's the best way to prune, though? It would be nice if we had a real good diversity genre-wise of course.

We have a lot of racers, shmups, and fighters - can probably remove one each of those. Some of the puzzlers look very similar - very puyo puyo-esque, the least impressive can be cut.

I'll suggest:
Chibi Maruko Chan Puzzle Dama (puzzle) (seems the least unique gameplay, aside the Chibi bend)
Ninku (fighter) (i'm ok keeping this, but you can prob youtube for your enjoyment, it will be shortlived - funny characters, but bad controls and not deep)
Blast Wind (shmup) (it's pricey, and imo not going to be as good as the other pricey shooters)
Gale Racer (racer) (I look forward to this one the least of the racers)
Dungeons and Dragons (available on PS3, granted not as good)

Are any of those ones that someone was absolutely looking forward to?
