I may get some flack for adding this game, as I understand that some fans hate it. I really don't care. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this game. I played it through to completion when I younger with all Chaos Emeralds and I enjoyed it. It's not a traditional Sonic game, but it's still fun. It's playable, it looks good and it sounds great. It's certainly not one of the best Sonic games of the era (most people would give that to Sonic & Knuckles and Sonic CD), but it's good and those of you who have played all the Sonic games over the years should know damn well that it is certainly NOT among the worst games in the franchise. I'd certainly rather play this game than Sonic 4: Episode 1 personally. I've enjoyed all of the Genesis entries in the Sonic franchise, including Sonic Spinball (which I may nominate later). There's also an upgraded Saturn/PC version of this game that I never tried

I thought I was the only fan of this game. I like the game a lot, too. I have the Saturn version, which does look a little better. Like you said, not as good as the original trilogy and Sonic & Knuckles, but still a very fun game.

Also, Rolling Thunder 3 looks awesome! I'm gonna have to find that one.

I love the game for what it is, however, the Saturn version really is the way to go. So much better in every aspect. The control is a non-issue with the 3D pad.

Both soundtracks are kickass too. 8)

This is one I have in my collection and it mocks me because I never beat the final boss  . This is a very interesting shooter that uses physics and realistic gameplay to make the game more challenging. Your ship is always moving downward due to gravity and you have to use fuel to boost upwards. You'll need to find fuel pick ups when you run low. Also, you can't let your ship hit the ground too hard or you'll take damage.

There are NPCs you have to rescue throughout the game, so you will need to park your ship from time to time and do so carefully in order for them to get on board. Also, your bullets can hurt the characters you're trying to save, so you have to fight your enemies carefully. There are these other items you have to find as well to get to the last boss, so the levels in this game are not linear and straightforward. It's not a typical shooter

I should point out that this game is pretty tough. You need to manage your fuel well and you have to learn to control your ship properly since physics is your enemy in this game. This is the very definition of a skill based game. I don't remember if this game did well critically, but Edge magazine liked it

The game has a cool soundtrack from Jesper Kyd just like The Adventures of Batman and Robin did. I don't like it quite as much as the Batman and Robin soundtrack, but the music fits the underground, cave-like nature of the game quite well

This looks like some kind of commercial for the game. It's very good

One of my favorite tracks from the game

Here's one of the game's more interesting (and tricky) levels. You have to deflect lasers to accomplish your goal (there's physics coming into play again)

Good port of the Commodore Amiga classic, can be beaten quickly if you know what to do, if you don't then you will be playing it for hours upon hours.

Action, adventure, and a real fun (and funny) story with an excellent localization and really nice graphics & artwork. Another hidden gem.

I know it's available on the SNES, but that version is missing a level. This is really a game that defines the Genesis more than the SNES as that's the console it was made for and it was also exclusive to the Genesis for about a month. It really feels like a Genesis game too, with the quirkiness and unconventional qualities that characterize other Genesis classics like Comix Zone. This game was from Shiny Entertainment, which consisted of now well known names like David Perry who worked on the amazing Genesis version of Aladdin. It features a similar level of beautiful animation as that game.

In fact, games like this, The Lion King, Aladdin and the SNES version of The Adventures of Batman and Robin were extremely impressive for their time for having such high levels of animation that made these games look like playable cartoons. They STILL look amazing today. Many 16-bit games still look great today with their colorful sprites, but only a select few feature such amazing cartoon quality animation

The music is great too. Tommy Tallarico worked on it, so that should tell you something

In fact, the game's use of music and voice samples is quite funny. The second level, which takes place in hell, features tortuous awful elevator music and you can hear people's screams

More than anything, EWJ is remembered for its bizarre and hilarious characters, worlds and situations. This was a very weird game that had you bungee jumping with anthropomorphic snot, riding giant hamsters and dueling cats and lawyers in hell. It also features bizarre characters like the Evil Queen Pulsating, Bloated, Festering, Sweaty, Pus-filled, Malformed, Slug-for-a-Butt!

Further proof of the Sega love with this game, there was an enhanced, special edition released on the Sega CD add-on for the Genesis. The SNES version is nice and has prettier graphics, but the Genesis(with its extra level) or Sega CD version is the best way to experience this game

Interesting trivia, EWJ actually managed to spawn a cartoon that I remember seeing a few episodes of.

As you mentioned, you can't include EWJ in a list without...

33, Comix zone! Not exactly the longest game for the console, but it's a pretty fun one.

34. castlevania bloodlines
I was so excited when I found out that castlevania was on the genesis. I was torn between this game or teenage mutant ninja turles hyperstone heist. Both games are great for the genesis and alot of fun
