Re: Why modern games suck

Re: How many of you are actually still using CRT TVs?

I still use a 29" CRT for any console pre-HDMI. Doing otherwise means degraded image quality and and a lag-inducing gameplay experience.

Re: Any of you starting to see games as "work" as you get ol

I view playing a lot of older JRPGs as work because so much of the leveling up in most of them feel like grinding: take a few steps, undertake the same or similarly easy battle as the last one, then repeat ad nauseum. Further, even modern games can feel like this with all the fetch quests and the li...

Save States

What are your thoughts on using save states in modern game collections or mini consoles, like the SNES Mini and the Mega Drive Mini? For me, there's two trains of thought when it comes to using save states or not, which I have broken down into two styles of play: The Journey is More Important than R...

Mario has them, Kirby has them.

Mario draws from philosophy? Please elaborate.

Re: Being a Gamer VS Being a Retro Gamer

I'm definitely a retro gamer. I don't own any of the modern systems, and while some modern games interest me, I know I won't purchase them until the systems are last gen so I can pick up the titles for much cheaper. Technically the Wii U is the last modern system I purchased, but it was one week bef...
