Re: Have you played ATARI today!!!
I picked up a boxed Flashback 8 at the local fleamarket for around $20. This is my first time playing Atari, although I'm vaguely familiar with many of the games. I played Adventure last night and beat the first easy quest. I like many of the things it introduces like the fog of war. Cleverly done o...

Re: Help needed getting a PC engine working outside of Japan
Recently moved back to Europe. unfortunately forgot to bring the AC adaptor I had previously acquired in this thread. I bought a new one, similar to the last, the only difference being that it had those 2 pin stick on connectors for different sizes of connector. Unfortunately it doesn't seem to do a...

Re: RPG Progress Report
Had an urge to play an old-school RPG, so I went with the SNES version of Final Fantasy IV (Final Fantasy II). Started last Saturday, and I just made my first run through the Tower of Babil, where I lost Yang. I might do a run through this version first in preparation for my Wonderswan run (or mayb...

Re: What RPG are you playing right now?
I finally got a front-lit wonderswan so I'm replaying Final Fantasy 1, navigating menus from memory based on familiarity with the GBA port. If I beat this it will be the first time I've beaten an entirely Japanese language RPG (although the Lich is currently killing both my party and spirit!). I ha...

Re: SNES Classic coming September 29th
Getting absorbed into Chrono Trigger...a game I only took faltering steps into on the VC years ago. It seems to work great on the SNES classic. I have noticed that in the polluted future level when Marle does her tech the mist briefly disappears. I'm not sure if it was like that in the original game...

Re: Together Retro - May
If anyone is looking for a challenging single screen platformer for a handheld then I would recommend the GBA port of Manic Miner (the predecessor to Jet Set Willy and a true single screen affair rather than a flip screen exploration game). It even has a password system to make it slightly more mana...

Re: SNES Classic coming September 29th
Well my caution lasted barely 48 hours. My partner installed it on her tablet and we hacked it successfully with that. I think the problem was my ancient Windows 7 laptop and possibly not using the cable that came with the Classic the first time around. it was still way slower than the Youtube guide...

Re: SNES Classic coming September 29th
I would note that there is now a hakchi Easy Installer. It is supposed to put together the newest hakchi 2 Community Edition for install. I plan on giving it a go at some point. m The way you'll know if you dumped your kernel correctly is if you have a "dump" folder in your hakchi folder....
