Fatal Fury Special Coming To XBox Live Arcade

Street Fighter 2’s successful resurrection on the XBox Live Arcade has tempted SNK Playmore to join in on the action.

SNK just recently announced that Fatal Fury Special will be on its way to the XBLA in the near future. A release date and price has not yet been announced.

Teamed with Street Fighter II on XBLA, we make see what will be the beginning of a 2D fighter rebirth. Such fighters thrive on real players competing against each other and that experience died off with a slow disintergration of local arcades. However, the online features of the XBox Live Arcade has allowed hardcore gamers to recreate that experience.

If Fatal Fury Special sells even a fraction of the downloads that Street Fighter II has experienced, I’m sure that SNK will follow up with more of its older games. They have already released most of its best titles on the PS2 in the last couple of years, but the XBox Live Arcade (and the Wii’s Virtual Console) would make much more sense.
