Mini-Review: Art of Fighting Collection - PS2
SNK has consistantly been putting out ports of its best Neo-Geo games for the PS2 and most of them have been of very high quality. The latest in this series of ports is the Art of Fighting Collection, which has only been released in Japan thus far.
After the lackluster review of the Last Blade Collection on the PS2 (due to inferior emulation), I was a little anxious to see if this collection would suffer the same fate.
But it looks like SNK has delivered for the most part. According to the impressions posted by NeoGeoForLife member, K1701, the Art of Fighting Collection seems to be a quality compilation…
- “It appears to be graphically identical to the neo-geo version, the NCSX import site says AOF 1-2 have issues with the frame rate of the the backgrounds, but I havent noticed any issues… yet….
- Loading is fast, no 10-16 sec loads a la NGBC on PS2
- The games are emulated, no way as disappointing as LB 1-2 port for PS2.
- There are arranged soundtracks for all 3 games.! Most are OK, but you got to hear the arranged music for AOF 1’s character select screen.
- I played AOF 1-2 on AES and MVS, then the AOF collection over the weekend to compare the backgrounds. I, again really dont see any background framerate drop in AOF 1-2 in the collection.”

oh that is SWEET. I need to get my hands on that one. I may sound like a freak but back then, I preferred AOF over all the other fighters… SamShow, SF2, etc… to me they had nothing on AOF. Why??? dunnooooooo. Just weird that way.
