Lots of Metal Slug Support For Nintendo

After the recent announcement of the PSP Metal Slug Collection, I was getting a little discouraged that most of the recent Metal Slug releases have only been on Sony and Microsoft platforms. However, in the past week, it looks like SNK isn’t forgetting about Nintendo.

First of all, the Gameboy Advance will be adding to its arsenal of Metal Slug games with the original Metal Slug game. This release is basically to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Metal Slug series, but it is a great addition to Metal Slug Advance (and I thought there was talk over other MS games for the GBA, but I can’t dig that up now).

Not only is SNK still supporting the established GBA, but it will already be releasing a phenominal collection of Metal Slug games on the upcoming Nintendo Wii (formally known as the Revolution).

This collection, known as the Metal Slug Anthology, will actually be designed to take full advantage of the Wii’s motion sensing remote/controller.

Metal Slug Anthology will feature Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Metal Slug X, Metal Slug 3, Metal Slug 4 and Metal Slug 5 (much like the PSP collection). Metal Slug 6 has also been recently confirmed for thw Wii version.

It’s interesting that SNK is going this route instead of the Virtual Console, but I suppose a retail complilation will result in a higher-quality product that is more customized to this unique next-gen console.

We will find out more about these great ports when E3 is in full swing, but we’ll just have to wait patiently until then.

  1. Am I alone in finding Metal Slug Advance a bit underwhelming? I’ve had it for about a year now and have never been bothered about it enough to get past the first couple of levels.

  2. That’ll be a ‘yes, you are alone’, then…
