Snatcher - New Port to Nintendo DS or PSP?
DS Rumors are flying like never before.
According to the German site, Gamefront.de (translated by Babelfish):
“19.02.06 - Konami renewed the trademark protection for Snatcher Click Picture to 13.12.05 with the Japanese patent office. Possible way is that a reference on the fact that the Action/Adventure classical author by Metal Gear inventor Hideo Kojima is converted on a new hardware - perhaps PSP or NDS - or even a new part develops.”
In case you couldn’t make sense of the weird translation, the patent for Konami’s Snatcher has been recently renewed by Hideo Kojima. Supposedly, he is interested in bringing the game to a mobile platform. The Nintendo DS would make most sense as the text-selection and clue-hunting elements works well with the DS touch screen.
I have mentioned in the past that many old graphical adventures such as Monkey Island and Snatcher would be prime candidates for the Nintendo DS. Phoenix Write: Ace Attorney would be a modern example of this type of game.
If Snatcher did get published on a modern device, it would be wonderful if the sequel Policenauts followed it. Policenauts has never had an official English translation and both games have quite a cult following.

A trademark is a much, much different thing from a patent.
I was just just playing Snatcher oddly enough, and was thinking how well it would suit the DS. So I decided to do a search to see if there were any plans to release a DS version, and I found this!…I’m very intriged and excited! Snatcher is a truly first class game.
Snatcher needs to como to X360 or PS3 as SNATCHER ONLINE, like shenmue, you can walk free in the streets of NEO KOBE CITY, and interact with other junker online players!!
dude, that would be amazing. now bringing Snatcher with nice graphics, and letting all the noobs knowing what a good game actually is. So, i will be vary hyped if they do make it for DS. Hell, Ill go nuts! I have play and beaten this wonderful game, so if now people could experience the wonder of this horrendously great game, all will be well.
If they did make a snatcher the X360 that would be awsome.If it was like a free roam/Strategy game.You could Roam Neo-Kobe talk to people and use your blaster to kill snatchers.Right now im playing it on my psp using a Sega Cd emulator and im still trying to beat it.
