Bleach - 2D Fighter for DS Reviewed by Siliconera
One the most anticipated Nintendo DS titles among the hardcore gamers is a 2D Fighter based on the popular anime/manga series, Bleach. This slick fighter seems to be inspired by the Guilty Gear series and is developed by Treasure — the brains behind such masterpieces as Gunstar Heroes, Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun.
My friends over at Siliconera have had the fine priviledge of playing with Bleach and have been kind enough to fill us in on how the game performs:
“All of the fighting takes place on the top screen, which left this area free for a touch screen menu. Instead of calling in partners or switching characters you’re given a chance to use up cards to alter the course of battle…
Perhaps Treasure didn’t put much effort in the single player mode because they were focusing on Bleach DS’ multiplayer modes. If you and a friend both have DSes you can battle each other by passing a download copy to your friend’s Nintendo DS. Even if you don’t have anyone nearby to play with you can connect via Nintendo Wifi to battle opponents as long as you have a wireless internet connection. Bleach DS supports adding people to your friends list and jumping into random battles…
As far as handheld fighting games go, Bleach DS: Souten ni Kakeru Unmei is among the best. The fighting system is well designed with lots of special moves and defensive options. There is enough depth to the system where you can really see the difference between an expert player and someone who just purchased the game. The wireless multiplayer battles are a strong selling point for the game because there is always an opponent to challenge you somewhere in the world.”
