Panzer Dragoon for PS2 – New Screenshots and Info

Back in July of ’05, I mentioned that Sega was working on a graphically enhanced version of the first Panzer Dragoon game (originally for the Saturn) for the PS2. Since the original was a great game, but had rough graphics, I was very interested in this upgrade.

Today, Famitsu magazine released some new screens of the PS2 version and they look incredible. Not only do they look smooth and beautiful, but it looks like the overall feel of the original game has been maintained.

The guys over at Sega are saying that the game is progressing nicely and that they are happy with the way it is turning out so far. It is also on schedule to be released on April 27 in Japan. Looks like they aren’t rushing this one like they did with previous remakes.

It’s kinda hard to see a drastic difference with such small screens (which is all we have right now), but here are some screens to compare the before and after:

It looks like it’s basically a straight port with a nice amount of anti-aliasing and possibly some light textures. If you’ve played the original Saturn game, you have to admit there are a lot of jaggies and the anti-aliasing is needed a great deal.

I will do my best to share larger screens when the become availible!
Of course, it would be heaven if this was successful and we saw additional upgrades of Panzer Dragoon Zwei and Panzer Dragoon Saga (one of the most best RPGs of all time).
