Bubble Bobble Evolution & Revolution for the DS/PSP Are Evil

I love Bubble Bobble as much as any other Taito freak, but from the sounds of it, I won’t be loving the upcoming Nintendo DS or PSP remakes too much.

It’s a shame, since I thought that either the DS’s dual screens would be really fitting for the high-stacking platforms or the PSP’s screen could make a Bubble Bobble game look extra cute and polished. But instead, Taito screwed with both the original formula and style of the Bubble Bobble games resulting in the rubish that is known as Bubble Bobble Revolution and Bubble Bobble Evolution.

If all you want is a good port of the original game, you might be ok (if you want to pay $30 for it), but if you’re expecting the “updated version” of the game to be enjoyable, you better think twice.

Maybe you will find this in the bargain bin later this year for $10 or something. Then it might just be worth it for the original game (and the new version as a novelty). I won’t think less of you for that…

  1. What’s so bad about these two games? I haven’t heard anything too negative just yet and I loved the original Bubble Bobble.

  2. Well, for some reason they are trying to make it more 3D and not staying to the original formula much.

For the sounds, it just doesn’t play (or look) as good as the original.

I should have mentioned this in the main post, but I would look at Bubble Bobble Old & New for the GBA instead:
