Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast on PS2, PSP, PC

Another Outrun installment is scheduled to be released on the PS2, PSP, and PC in March. That’s right — no XBox version right now, however the game is devloped by the same guys as the XBox Outrun 2. I can’t blame Sega for moving platforms — the XBox version didn’t quite get the attention it deserves. Maybe a PS2 version will sell better.

The game will feature 30 stages, including the best of those found in OutRun2 and OutRun2 SP (the arcade version). There will be a new mission structure, license mode, six-player online racing, and twelve licensed Ferraris including the all-new F430 and the dazzling Superamerica.

PlayStation 2 and PSP owners have the chance to get additional content of some sort by linking the two via a USB cable.

This is great news - OutRun 2 was an excellent sequel that was OutRun-ish in every way. The PSP could definitely use some more Sega love, especially if it comes WiFi enabled. My only fear is that the insanely high cost of PSP games ($40-$50) will hurt the sales of the game.
