Generation NEX Now at Best Buy

Looks like Messiah’s NES Clone is going a bit more mainstream. Best Buy has included the Generation NEX on it’s online store — however, it already seems to be backordered. Not too long after the importer megastore, Lik-Sang, pulled the console from its virtual shelves because of numerous problems, the US consumer electronics giant picked the device up.

I’m curious to know how many they stocked and how quickly they sold out. I wonder how likely it is that they would bring the NEX to its brick-and-mortar stores. Could Gamestop be far behind (at least they stock NES carts)?

I’m personally not much of a fan of Best Buy — I try to avoid purchasing anything from them. So I would recommend that you purchase the console from Messiah directly if you feel comfortable. It would ensure that all the proceeds go to them in order to fund the improved Generation NEX they are working on and their acclaimed wireless NES and SNES controllers.

Like I’ve always said, Best Buy won’t sell a product until it has been proven to suck on par with their standards.

The Atari Flashback 2 console has the right idea. I’d like to see a legal NES with around 30 or so classic built-in games for under $40. I only wish the AFB2 had a cartridge port out-of-the-box rather than having to hack one on. A legal NES with built-in games and either built-in cartridge ports or the option to void the warranty and add your own easily like the AFB2 would get my dollars.
