I had a feeling that Sonic Rush for the DS would be a winner. And according to IGN and Game Rankings, I was correct. IGN gave Sonic Rush 9.0 out of 10, calling it “an extremely polished DS title”. They also said, “It does a great job offering a fantastic, energetic old-school challenge that keeps the classic gaming style alive.”

Sounds like they topped the Sonic Advance titles (which are actually pretty good), making it the best handheld version of Sonic ever. However, I would be surprised if it could top my favorites, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis) and Sonic CD (Sega CD).
