The Behemoth’s Next Game

The guys that brought you Alien Hominid are hard at work creating a new 2D action adventure. Instead of being inspired by Metal Slug, their new title is being influenced by works such as Double Dragon and Guardian Heroes.

That is corrent, The Behemoth’s next project will be a 2D side scrolling beatemup. I’m liking the sounds of it already. It also has some of the characteristics that made Guardian Heroes so interesting — stylized medieval art, four-player simultaneous gameplay, and RPG-lite leveling-up. These features along get my attention.

According to 1UP.com, “Each of the four characters in the game has a different background — from fire and ice to poison and lightning — that allows them a different magic ability to mix up the combat. While the central gameplay revolves around two action buttons and lots of crazy juggle combos, the magic serves as a way to differentiate the characters.”

While the demo was running on GameCube at Comic-con, there is no confirmed platform, release date, or publisher at this point. The crew at The Behemoth estimates that the game may ship in about a year, and given its early state, he notes, “It probably won’t be seen for a while after Comic-con.”
