Saturn Homebrew Emus that Use 4MB RAM Cart

I was searching Google for some more info related to my Sega Saturn 4MB RAM Carts and came across a blog entry mentioning a some emulators that run on the Saturn that utilize the 4MB RAM cart. Since some game ROMs are larger than the Saturn’s main memory, the carts are a good way to run these games.

Here’s the rundown of the emulators:

Atari Lynx emulator
- max. ROM size: 512kByte
- compatibility: very good
- speed: slow
- bios file required (may work without)

Neo Geo Pocket Color emulator
- max. ROM size: 1-4MByte
- supports external 4MB RAM Cart
- compatibility: very good
- speed: very slow

Wonder Swan Color emulator
- max. ROM size: 1-4MByte
- supports external 4MB RAM Cart
- compatibility: very good
- speed: slow

Game Boy Color emulator
- max. ROM size: 1-4MByte
- supports external 4MB RAM Cart
- compatibility: low
(most demos work fine)
- speed: almost playable

You can find more info about these homebrew efforts at Rockin’B’s site

It’s too bad that the Dreamcast didn’t have a similar expansion option since that’s one of the main limitations of the system’s emulation projects.
