Growing up, there were two types of games I would head to as soon as I entered an Arcade — Beat-em-ups and Racing. While current consoles are thankfully seeing a steady flow of 2D fighters, arcade racers haven’t been getting the same love.

That is until Midway Arcade Treasures comes out for the PS2, XBox, and Gamecube. Right now the talk is that this compilation will include the following arcade racers for years past:
San Francisco Rush The Rock: Alcatraz Edition
San Francisco Rush 2049
Super Off Road & Bonus Tracks Pack
Off Road Thunder
Hydro Thunder
S.T.U.N Runner
Race Drivin’
Badlands

If all these games are included on the Gamecube version, I will be scooping this one up soon after it’s released.

Midway really seems to be getting the clue here. I’m really appreciating their effort to include both older games along with some more recent ones. And the racing theme seems nice also.

I think that if more publishers will group 5-10 similar games (same genre, characters, etc) of various ages for a reasonable price. Look at the excitement that the Zelda Gamecube Bonus disc caused. People payed good money for that on eBay. Similar games of various ages on one disc — I’m telling you, they will sell. Sega, Nintendo, Capcom, Konami — are you listening???
