GBA emulation for the Palm OS 5

Crimson Fire has completed and released the GBA emulator for the Palm OS, part of the Firestorm gbaZ package that also supports original GameBoy & GameBoy Color ROMs. It’s as simple as saving a bunch of games on an SD card, and then popping the card into your Palm device.

The emulation speed is determined by the processing power of the particular unit. So while the Tapwave Zodiac is designed for games, its processor is only 200 MHz compared to the Tungsten T3’s 400 MHz. It doesn’t look like everything is perfect yet, even on higher-end systems. But I’m sure things will progress. Just PLEASE do not harrass the developers. Emulation programming is hard work!

I don’t own a PDA, but I can’t imaging it being nearly as nice as playing a real GBA. But at least the Zodiac would be a better fit. Plus, if you have both devices, you now have the option to leave one behind.

Thanks to Joystiq for the heads-up
