Amazing what people are doing with the Genesis these days

Aside from awesome new games like Demons of Asteborg, people are working on amazing ports like Simpsons Arcade, Castlevania Symphony of the NIght, Starfox, and Darkstalkers. There's even a Resident Evil demake being worked on. You can find this stuff on youtube. There's even a Streets of Rage 2 hack available now that has all of the playable characters from the recently released TMNT: Shredder's Revenge.

The development scene on the old Sega console is pretty amazing.

I'm really excited for the SOTN port. I plan on buying a physical copy.

Too bad it doesn't have its own GB Studio or NES Maker style maker. I noticed an uptick of horror games on GB after the former got released.

And every SHC I'm positively floored by the excellent Sonic hacks.

Does anyone think we'll ever get an MSU-1-style chip for the Genesis?

The guy making the SOTN port is retroactively explaining the stuff he figured out while making it, and is active on some discord channels. A lot of the homebrew scene for Genesis homebrew is open source. I sent Pigsy a pack of my original and resampled (to how the PS1 used them) samples. Hope he gets further. i'll addd him to my patreon next month.

Krikzz developed a FMV and PCM streaming protocol for his Mega Everdrive Pro when he launched it a while back.. I enjoyed the demos and the DooM port. I'm over a year late on the hardware specific soundtrack I was converting it to loop-point PCM for the port in place of those lame Sound Canvas PCMs. Must've slipped my mind. Mega ED Pro trumps the Mega SD cart in this regard, tho owning either makes you a winner imo.

So it turns out the Genesis DOES have an MSU-1-style chip. Apparently the MSU-MD has existed for quite some time. Basically it allows games to access the Sega CD, basically not unlike Pier Solar did.

I know this is cheating because it is the 32X, but 32X Resurrection is just a wild project. I played it a bit on my physical 32x awhile ago, I plan to do a complete playthrough shortly. Something about Doom on older hardware just feels great and seeing what the 32X was capable of is wild.
