Actually, there are 18.45 quintillion planets (rounded to nearest hundredth). Not trying to nitpick; I'm actually agreeing with your point and saying that there are nearly 4,500,000,000,000,000,000 more planets than you even mentioned, so there's no telling what you will (or won't) ever see.

I haven't seen anything giant yet, and I'm disappointed, but I'm not upset about it. It just means I need to keep exploring.

I mean I've encountered like a medium sized T-Rex creature before but most of the stuff is say Dog-Horse size.

I was hoping there would be worlds with more varied creatures of different types and sizes like what they showed at e3 2014 I have yet to find a truly gigantic animal.

I've been a bit unlucky and I've mostly run into planets with no animal life. I haven't been to too many planets though so I guess that's to be expected ha.

I haven't played No Man's Sky in about a week (I had a rough week). I just loaded up GoG Galaxy and noticed a new game update! Crash fixes, blah blah blah, but...

Players who set a large number of waypoints could find themselves in a situation where they could crash the game in the Galactic Map, this is remedied now (PS. A better waypoint system is coming).

Better waypoint system!?!?! Yes! :D

The foundation for even bigger changes.
No Man's Sky, the first-person game of limitless space exploration that everyone's been talking about, has just received a massive free update to version 1.1 called the Foundation Update! If you haven't checked the game out yet, now is a good time to jump in, taking advantage of the 40% discount.
The game got off to a rocky start but developers Hello Games say that since its release they have been processing all the feedback and this update "is putting in place a foundation for things to come".
Here are some of the most important improvements it brings:
- Explorers can now decide to play with different rule sets across three game modes: the Normal mode, the Creative mode and the Survival mode.
- You can claim your home planet by finding an uninhabited base and creating your own, fully customized outpost.
- Inside your base you can grow and harvest crops, and research plant types with the new Farming system.
- You can now deploy automated harvesters that keep gathering resources from nodes. Waypoints can be placed to track points of interest and you can also leave sub-space messages for other travelers to find.
- If you can afford them, you might want to purchase interstellar Freighters that you'll be able to summon from anywhere in the galaxy. You can even use the new recruitment system to man your Freighter with an Engineer, a Farmer, and a Weapons or Science specialist that will conduct research for you.
- Big and small improvements in the UI and graphics, including a quick menu to access important items.
To get a good look at all the changes introduced in the Foundation Update head over this way.
Or better yet, fire up No Man's Sky and check them out yourself!
The 40% discount lasts until Tuesday, November 29, 5:50 PM UTC.
Note: You can get this update now through GOG Galaxy. The offline version is planned to be available on Monday.

That's cool might have to dip back into it haven't played in a few months :P. After finding out there was basically nothing at the center of the universe I kind of gave up on it. Since about the only meaningful thing I had left to do was gathering more words for the different and random somewhat meaningless exploration since everything started feeling insanely repetitive.

From the official website...

Foundation Update Incoming
Hello Games | November 25, 2016

Hello,

This week Hello Games will be releasing an update to No Man’s Sky. We’re calling it The Foundation Update, because we have added the foundations of base building, and also because this is putting in place a foundation for things to come.

Detailed patch notes will follow, and release will be soon.

Coming from five years of intense development, immediately after No Man’s Sky released the team spent six weeks updating the game with 7 patches across both platforms (the last of these was 1.09 on Sept 24th which you can read about here http://www.no-mans-sky.com/log/). These fixed many of the most common or critical bugs and issues post-release.

In the nine weeks since then our small team has been hard at work on development, testing and certification for the Foundation Update. It won’t be our biggest update, but it is the start of something.

The discussion around No Man’s Sky since release has been intense and dramatic. We have been quiet, but we are listening and focusing on improving the game that our team loves and feels so passionately about.

Positive or negative feedback, you have been heard and that will truly help to make this a better game for everyone.

This update will be the first small step in a longer journey. We hope you can join us.

Thank you,

Hello Games

Intense and dramatic? Yeah... Translation: We're a small indie developer, and yet some people chose to ignore this. As if there was some rule that charging $60 for a game doesn't give you the same treatment as an indie developer that a $10 or $20 game would. Those same people also chose to ignore the fact that our small indie team has been updating NMS sky frequently since its release. Instead of getting swept up in the shit storm surrounding NMS on the internet, we decided to limit our public communications and instead just improve the game. Actions speak louder than words.

Honestly, I love that Hello Games hasn't bothered to respond to all the BS that's been flung at them. If anything, it makes me like them more.

@ anyone that hasn't played the game in a while, give this update a look see. It feels like an expansion pack.

I would like to say that I am excited about the expansion and will definitely be taking the time to give it a shot and enjoy it. I would also like to point out that I expressed a thimble-full of positivity on a video game news website about said update and was subsequently told to fuck myself. There is a lesson to be learned, though. Even though I had a torrential downpour of hate, there were over 7 times as much love represented by a star of support. Even though they don't speak like the vocal majority, their positivity was felt by me and respected.

So when you are out there and are interested in being positive and thoughtful on the internet. Don't be afraid. DO IT! Tons of people out there are reading and hoping for that voice so be that voice of reason and love and enthusiasm. Haters be damned!

That has always been my feeling about it. A bunch of self important entitled babies who ignored the size of the game vs the size of the team looking to piss and whine like it was some huge crew that worked on the huge Skyrim game or whatever. They never made any false expectations as they spelled out what it was, and that they'd bake more into it over time. They've done this. It was lame internet tools blowing stuff out of proportion and the blow back over it hit the developer. I agree, I respect them even more for not responding to the childish behavior as they have to answer to no one since they gave what they promised and continue to do so. I have yet to buy it, will get it through GoG, but I have enough backlog I can't hope to be fair to it at this time.

I enjoyed the game when it came out, but no doubt that I was disappointed. I'll probably dip back into it with this update, though, as I'm eager to see if the base building holds my attention any longer.
