Best Way to Obtain 'Grim Fandango'?

Post by Original_Name »

Hey guys, I've been wanting to play Grim Fandango lately, but as you may be aware, Lucas doesn't have it up for official download anywhere. I don't particularly want to pay $30-40 for a second-hand copy, but I never really download PC games online. Where's a reliable place to go to download a copy (preferably as a direct download rather than a torrent)?

If your willing to wait I'm sure GOG.com will pick it up eventually. I could have sworn I've read that people have been having issues installing the game on newer OSs. I've been wanting to play this for sometime as well.

AFAIK they've re-released the game (ordinary DVD-case style), as well as DOTT, Sam 'n' Max, etc.

I am almost certain I've seen it for sale at Game (the only competitor to Gamestop that I can think of here in Sweden)

not sure about the U.S. though

:edit

further investigations seem to claim that the UK saw a re-release

could try Amazon, if nothing else?

on closer inspection, Amazon might not be the best choice out there

but there's bound to be somewhere you can import the re-release

:edit 2

the re-release is part of the LucasArts Classic series

it's available for about $23 in Sweden

not sure how to obtain it from one of the "big" sites, though

:edit 3

ebay.co.uk has it very cheap

Google search "snesorama forums grim fandango". Its there, I downloaded it a few months back and had no problem running it. You may want to use Jdownloader, since its in 12 parts. Goodluck.

This classic is ripe for an "HD" remastering. Provided they still have the original artwork.

Like someone above mentioned it will be better to wait for something like gog.com to release it. Unless you like collecting physical copies. I was tempted a few times to pay outrageous prices for Neverwinter Nights Diamond. I waited though, and finally got it from gog.
Thanks everyone...

Thanks everyone! I think what I'm gonna do is play through some of the games I already have on my backlog (and do all the regular college-stuff) for the next couple months and see if it doesn't get announced for an official download somewhere... if not, I'll just head over to SnesoRama. I would've checked that from the start since that's where I get all of my other iso's, but I honestly had no idea they had PC games up, too. A 12-part download is a pain, but that's okay.

No joke! A lot of these sellers seem to offer worldwide shipping, as well. I'll have to remember to check there next time I'm looking for a rare PC game.
