TF2 new unlock system question

do you guys know if it works with the other characters too? Or just the spy and sniper?
also- does it always correspond to your character or can i get the razorback while playing the spy?

All the info and links and opinions i could find the internet and i can't get a simple yes or no. I only ask because although i want to unlock these things, I also want to be a team player. And if the team has 4 snipers already then the last thing i want to be is a sniper. Kind of ruins a good time when you are on a team of 4 snipers and 3 spys. ugh.

How do you guys like the new system? good/bad?

Works will all chars that have unlockable items.

It's better than the achievement method.

Yes, you can earn any weapon playing any character. I got one of the spy watches and I wasn't playing as Spy. All the prior unlocks can be found this way now.
