If the SNES doesn't turn on, I would check the fuse inside. You'll need a multimeter for this, as well as a security bit to open the console.

yea a guy i know is going to open it for me when we meet up to trade.

I thought I'd put it on my list, but I guess not. How hard did you look?

If you look at the image of the brick on that page you can read the polarity. You didn't mention what model you have, but the description says it fits all models.

Never use your NES adapter with anything else unless you want to let out the magic smoke.

In my power adapter pic request thread some one posted a pic of an official Odyssey 2 power adapter. It shows the output as 11.5 VAC 400mA. The NES power adapter outputs 9 VAC 1.3A (1300mA).

I'm not familiar with the Odyssey console at ALL, but from reading that, it sounds like there's two different models. An earlier one that uses a DC input, and a later one that uses an AC input. But, it also says that the earlier ones with the DC input can use the Atari 2600 power adapter, which means it's a completely different plug style than the later console which inputs AC. So yeah, if that's all true, then the NES power adapter should be OK.

Aren't there any markings by the power input on the console?
