2018 Gaming Goals and Resolutions

Slightly late July update!

Beating games:

1. Beat every game I recieved as a Christmas or birthday present in 2017.
Currently beaten: 7/13

Ever Oasis is currently being worked on, and 2 others are lined up for the summer challenge, so should make progress on this in August.

2. Beat (or sell on) at least 1/3rd of unbeaten games I recieved as Christmas/Birthday presents prior to 2017.
Current progress: 5/12

3. Age of Empires: The Age of Kings (sold)

No progress on this on this month either. Falling behind in this one!

No progress again (I didn't play much this month...), but 4 of them on my summer list (Jet Set Radio Future, ActRaiser, Fire Emblem 6, Shenmue 2). Fire Emblem 6 is almost done!

5. Participate in every Together Retro month to some extent.
So far:
January (Licensed Platformers): I beat Little Nemo, Batman and Mickey's Wild Adventure
February (Final Fantasy Spin-offs): I tried Kingdom Hearts and didn't like it, so I sold all the games in the series I owned.
March (80s Ladies Night): I beat Legacy of the Wizard, The Legend of Zelda and Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. I've also started, but not finished Earthbound Beginnings.
April: I beat Shinobi X for Saturn and have started but not finished Wing Commander III for 3DO.
May: I didn't play this month, so I guess I failed this challenge, but I'll try to join in other months this year!
June: I finished Advance Guardian Heroes and Alien Storm
July: I played through Vertical Force

August plans: I'm definitely intending to get through Conker's Bad Fur Day, and I might also try and polish off Mickey's Speedway USA whilst I'm at it.

2. Acquire 1 physical copy of a game I own on Virtual Console per month. These won't count towards rule 1 unless they're still unbeaten.
Jan: Winds of Thunder, Feb: Ufouria: The Saga. March & April: Donkey Kong Country 2 & Gunstar Heroes. May: DoReMi Fantasy. June: Mega Man 4. July: Secret of Mana.

3. Finish my collection of Rare titles for N64
Mission accomplished! I picked up Killer Instinct Gold and GoldenEye at the retro market in April, and Mickey's Speedway USA at the retro market in July.

4. Acquire at least 3 more games towards my collection of games by Treasure.
2 games so far - Gunstar Heroes and Advance Guardian Heroes. I'd quite like the 3rd one to be one of the big ticket items. Radiant Silvergun maybe?

Other:
1. Upgrade at least 1 of my consoles, preferably 2.
Still no progress here, but I'd like to get an AGS101 GBA as one of my options

Guess I can only wait to make a 2019 gaming goals and resolutions as it's already august now xD But I'll be making up a list for now and try and finish it next year ! Good luck guys, hopefully you all reach your goals!

I've been through tough times lately finding new games that fills the gap with the lack of immersion and lore to them. So i have given myself a goal this year to dig out my steam library for the old gems i might have missed, and find value in the old titles, do some achievements, maybe a few shorter 100% runs. You know, just for the general vibe we used to have long time ago, looking at the games differently. Now we change them as socks it seems so it dropped in value for me.

tldr Dig out steam library for some older titles and finish their achievements or get that completionist vibe again

Just two goals left!

I crossed off Dragon Warrior IV yesterday.

It may take me a bit to start up Shattered Union and that should give me sometime to hack away at getting under 60 Unfinished Games. I'm currently sitting at 63, so that shouldn't be too long.

It's almost end of 2018 now I wonder when will 2019 gaming goals and resolutions appear xD

- Play Final Fantasy Mystic Quest
- Play one OLD Dragon Quest game
- Play Marvelous: Another Treasure Island
- Play Gun Hazard
- Play Brain Lord
- Play Mega Man IV (GB)
- Play Metroid 2
- Tackle some PS2 Backlog
- Eliminate PSX Backlog

- Played Mystic Quest during the FF spinoffs TR month, while it has great music nothing else really kept me going after the initial hours. This was the second time I've tried playing this so it's probably the last attempt.
- Played Dragon Quest III (SFC) and while gorgeous to look at, it had no characters/story... so no spark really caught my interest. I'll try another one some other time.
- Beat Gun Hazard, simply put this is my RetroGOTY so far.
- Beat Brain Lord, I have many issues with this one but otherwise I'm glad I played it.
- Beat Metroid 2 FINALLY with the power of a color hack and it was amazing, loved it.

While Dragon Quest III (SFC) didn't work for me earlier this year... Dragon Quest V (DS) did! Just knocked that one out.

Beating Bad News Baseball got me underneath 60 Unfinished Games for the first time ever!

I just have one more and that is beating Shattered Union on the XBOX.

With Shattered Union, I have completed all of my Gaming Goals for 2018!!

It took a little while to get started on this, but once I did, I started knocking them down one by one.

Time to start work on Gaming Goals for 2019.
I intend to be moving next year and that will figure into some of my goals.
