I guess the most I ever got was about comic books. (not manga)
I would bring marvel comics into work to read them during break/lunch and every time a coworker first saw me doing that, she (99% were girls) would say "Are you reading a COMIC??" and would give a weird look or say "I don't know anyone that isn't a kid who reads comics."

....I was like "Yeah, comics are AWESOME." It didn't put me down one bit that someone was looking negatively upon what I liked/collected.
