I got tired about the "circle strafing" part...

did the narrator ever watch boxing in his life??? It's the standard offensive block.

(randomly selected video by youtubing 'boxing', and selecting FIRST video to appear in list)

watch his knock out punch... circle strafe as he punches.

If the guy had ever bothered to watch any military or sport offensive action he would see that strafing or side stepping is a very common tactic. It allows you to set your defensive position while remaining in an offensive strike position (facing your opponent).

Aside from any technical issues I have with the video... death scenarios? yes because people on the war field disemboweled and still half alive don't writhe in agony... or special ops don't open doors in defensive non-prone positions (though crouch probably isn't the best example of such). But aside from my technical issues with it, the video isn't even funny in doing so. The whole gag depends soulily on the "that's so true" joke, but it's not true, so we're left with, "he thinks that's so true" which is just embarrassing. Especially because there are so many parts of FPS games that could be rip to shreds in this very method, and actually be true (some of which the video attempted to press with, like grunting while jumping every time).

Wow LoD, way to look far too deeply into a video from the late 90's.

Hardly deep. It's just a surface look of the video. Not funny, and innacurate. The narrator leaps out of his seat in displeasure to strafing like it's ludicrous or something. It was dumb, and I was pointing out that it was dumb. How is that deep in any sense?

If I commented on it being a sign or symbol of the decline in intelligence, logistical capabilities, or even political, violent, or a maryad of other social issues... that's getting to deep.

I just called it dumb and explained why it was dumb. Just because it was the 90's doesn't give it an excuse (and in 90's you must mean 2000, because SoF came out in 2000).

Not that I would usually defend Kanye West (he is, indeed, a jackass), but I'm not sure how you managed to abstract "sad and pathetic" from the video (which couldn't be more blatantly fictional - and bizarre, even for Jonze). From Jonze, “We rehearsed the night before we shot, and talked about trying to get to that raw place, that sad, pathetic, drunken, lost place,” Jonze said. “I told him, the more shameless it is, the more pathetic it is, the better. He just went for it.”

On a different subject, I still see Bill Nye (the guy, not the show) on television from time to time. I was a Beakman's World fan growing up, however. Also, I'm very pleased that the Pseudoscience Bill Nye episode was linked. I can think of quite a few people who need to watch that video (that ghost hunter topic comes to mind).

Heh, what's sad is they need to watch "Bill Nye the Science Guy" to understand it.
