Best puzzle game of all time ( dont say Tetris)
Re: Best puzzle game of all time ( dont say Tetris)
Most of the good ones that I can think of have been mentioned already, I did enjoy trine 1 and 2, as well as party of sin, those are indie puzzle platformers where you have a variety of characters with different abilities that need to be combined to solve puzzles. The trine games are more physics based while party of sin has more standard puzzles.
I also really enjoyed the cave, a puzzle adventure game from sega that has you exploring a cave using characters with various abilities. Frequently goes on sale for like 3 bucks and is well worth a playthrough.

Re: Best puzzle game of all time ( dont say Tetris)
“Puzzle game” is incredibly broad. A point-and-click adventure has nothing in common with a falling block puzzle, or a puzzle platformer. There are also plenty of puzzles in Legend of Zelda games - a series that’s notoriously hard to categorize into a single genre
In terms of falling block games that don’t start with the letter T...
I find Dr. Mario infectious.
Puyo puyo/ Dr. Robotnik’s mean bean machine has a special place in my heart.
Bejeweled has that frenetic instantly clickable vibe.
Columns is absolutely zen. This one is the puzzle game that best hypnotized me. I compare the feeling to playing ikaruga.
As for point-and-click adventures...
Myst is the obvious top contender in this category.
Riven is an improvement in almost every aspect.
Cyberia also deserves to be mentioned.
Blazing Dragons is one of the funniest games in this genre. Sometimes I replay Blazing Dragons just to catch all the jokes I missed before.
As for Puzzle Platformers...
Warioland 3 is fantastic in every respect.
Lost Vikings displays great mechanics.
Psychonauts brings the puzzle platformer into new dimensions.
I think this list pretty well mentions the top “puzzle” games in various genres.

Have you played Catrap on gameboy? Asmik! First "time rewind" mechanic!
PoP sands of time is better.
Herebeke should be the winner, but I'd debate that.
I think Bombliss is the best, only because it's accessible huge explosion mechanic makes me happy because I can so easily plan to obliterate such a large playfield. Still, if I were a better gamer I think I would favor Puyo's new mechanics.
The limited buy mechanic in Nyet 3 for DOS is still one of the best - it's unlicensed so it doesn't break OP's rules. It breaks all the rules. The linked video is playing a bugged version - it doesn't really dump you to DOS when you lose. Check the description.
Pubble Bobble (Bust a Move) can't keep The new mechanics only piss me off so I fall back to gen3 arcade.
All of the Lode runner games are great, but I really enjoyed the enhanced Windows PC version and 3D for N64.
I was going to suggest a simple 1500 GBA game, but it's title escapes me so it can't be that good... Stars and lines and constellations. Can someone name it so I can play it again?
Edit= bad url fix and add

"Tetris" Attack (or Panel Del Pon in Japan)
-also known as Puzzle League later on (the N64 version had a Pokemon theme); but the SNES version is probably my favorite puzzle game of all time.
Others I like or played:
Dr. Mario
Yoshi's Cookies
Zoop
Lode Runner

Puzzle Quest will forever be my favorite puzzle game of all time. I've played through that thing like 4 times on DS, and just mentioning it here makes me wanna play through it a fifth time

Does Portal count? Portal 2?
While not the best puzzle game of all time, no one has mentioned Lemmings or a guilty pleasure of mine, Krusty's Fun House.

Oh man THIS! I have done the same, playing the DS, PC and a super old flip phone mobile version. I absolutely adore this style. So addicting!
