15: Star FoxSo this was Nintendo's big f*** you to one of Sega's slogans: "Sega does what Nintendon't."
This needed no external add-on, or any extra purchase. It was its own cartridge that worked on any standalone Super Nintendo. It made great simplistic use of the polygon capabilities they had. Outer space levels had this wonderfully dark and edgy aura about them, going from complete desolation to being attacked everywhere, going inside large spaceships and blowing them up Star Wars IV style. Boss fights were genre defining, having no problem with "unfairness" or repetition. Think about it, this was the first solid polygon-based game, and you were already fighting giant spaceships. It was a fantastic game, even to today's standards. Many people argue that this is the best Star Fox installment to date.
Star Fox 2 should go in the not-existing honorable mentions section.
