Anyone check it out yet? It's insanely good. I miss the cool extra weapons from the other older official expansions, but the level design is absolutely amazing in this and it's got its own flavor. Almost a bit Doom-esque, there are some massive monster mobs not usually seen in the older stuff, but thankfully they keep them to the same enemy type... since Quake does play a bit differently with Doom, too much monster mob spam with crazy monster combos would be brutal. I'm not sure how long it is, but I'm up to level 6 so far. It's definitely tough... as nails too.

Also one thing that stands out just like the cool expansion Doom got with the XBLA release a few years back, No Rest for the Living (also on the PSN Doom Complete Collection now), the level detailing and texturing is insanely good in this. Just absolutely everything about the levels is incredibly well crafted and looks amazing.

Fantastic stuff, not that I had any doubt because The New Order team kicks ass. Cherry on the top of my Quake marathon this year for sure. It'll be funny if this ends up being my favorite expansion, if there's still a good chunk of levels to go and the quality keeps up, that's very possible.

Quake Champions is fine and all, but man id/Bethesda need to reboot Quake and bring back this neo-gothic take on it.

I'm interested in this.

I've got the GOG version of Quake. What do I have to do to be able to play this with that?
PLAY KING'S FIELD.

You just download the folder and drop it in the Quake folder and double click the bat file included. Easy.

Or create a shortcut to the Quake engine you use and add -game dopa to the end.

Example
"G:\Games\Quake\quakespasm.exe" -game dopa

Yep, I did this with this and the other two expansions, using Dark Places. Looks and plays like a dream.

Just finished it. Really well put together!

The final level, I ran out of Ammo again and again, so I ended up loading my save from the level before and playing mega conservative all the way through, then it was a piece of piss.

Yeah ammo management was pretty challenging in this. There were a few level gates near the end with a few enemies nearby that I would just skip, even though I hate leaving monsters alive!

Did you do the secret level?

Are there other good fanmade episodes out there, like Doom megawads?
