Yeah, souky is def. "arcade mode" - neither of the chaos is a direct translation.

Umm, on DC and GCN the first option is "arcade mode", 2nd option is "original mode".

I'll play the original mode this weekend and see what the first stage is like then i'll be able to let you know for sure.

yeah I was wrong. The 2nd one is not arcade mode, as it ends after you beat 3 battles. Seems like a sort of high-score challenge mode of some sort. So maybe it's' the first option after all.

@Zen - why no love (specifically) for chaos? I don't think it tries to be anything but what it is - a damn intense and intricate boss rush. The scoring is very difficult to master - at times your rewarded for canceling at times your better to lock shoot and evade. I'm still trying to work this out.

@Noise - do you know if there's a limit to the times you can switch between the "Order" and "Chaos" Fields? And I still am not sure what the bar on the left is - it starts half filled and i'm not sure if I want to fill it or empty it...or how to do so?

as far as I understand there's no limit. I think it's quite like switching between polarities in Ikaruga.

To be honest, I often forget about switching fields. The game is pretty dynamic once you get into it.

That bar on the left... I'm not so sure. Will have to look into this.

So just to clarify...

The Chaos Field screen says:

Game Start
"Myarenzu" Mode? (This one is weird, to my knowledge, there's improper usage of yōon characters, making it hard to make out what it's trying to say. I can't really say whether or not this, or "game start" (the first option), is arcade mode. I haven't played this game for years and can't remember.)
