Interest Check: Mattel Aquarius

by Jontendo Sun Feb 26, 2012 4:08 am

On store shelves in June 1983 and discontinued only 4 months later; Meet the sleepy Mattel Aquarius.

Image

It was bought second-hand, and has been sitting in my closet for several years. Still in plastic, and lightly used (if at all), it certainly represents the model well. However, I think it would be better-suited to a more passionate collector, or even a museum curator. 8)

So if you dig obscure vintage computers, low-bit graphics, Mattel products or are just enamored with anything that houses a Zilog Z-80, drop me a note!

Pending interest, function will be confirmed, pictures updated/added and a proper "sales" thread will be created before anything is made official.

Until then, feast your eyes on this groovy bit 'o tech:

That is kinda cool did it have built in games with it.
Or was it like the atari 800 with small carts.

That's... beautiful.

Dang, I love me some Mattel. Wish I had the cash; I'd grab that in a heartbeat.

Good luck with the sale bump!

No built-in games (as far as I know). It does have a bit of MS BASIC in ROM to do simple programming. However, all the games ran from its small doorstop-shaped carts. 8)

Thanks! It's a pretty niche machine, so it may be around if you're still interested later.

In the meantime, I'm open to price suggestions. I'm not looking for triple-digits, but need to be able to cover safe shipping and a bit for my next game purchase. :)
