Star Wars Behind The Magic Win 7 Fix

Wookie Bump. :D

See above replies for screenshots and the OP for review

Note that below was the earlier method how the fix was first implemented. I have since created a dedicated thread with the boot folder available as a download. The download boot loader also includes a full install option.

1. Install Star Wars in Windows XP or older Windows or use the RAR files, set to default \BTM Folder.
2. Copy the Installed \BTM folder to a Mem Stick.
3. Copy the \BTM Folder to the Win 7 Computer. Be sure the folder is C:\BTM
4. Open Note Pad and Create a New Text File called: BTMx64 Install.reg
5. Copy paste the Install Text, Save and then run to update the Registry. Note D is the disc reader.

"CD Path"="D:"
"Analyze Path"="D:\\INSTALL\\SysCheck.exe"
"Source Dir"="D:\\"
"InstallType"=dword:00000009
6. Create a shortcut of the behind.exe and add to your Start Menu.
7. May the Force be with you. Enjoy!

To Uninstall
1. Delete C:\BTM Folder and the Shortcut off the Start Menu.
1. Create a new text file called: BTMx64 Uninstall.reg
2. Copy Paste and then run to update registry.

Re: WTB Gamecube Freeloader - Star Wars Magic Win7 available

I received a PM from mistermorris who has own copy of Star Wars Magic, posted here for info.
Anyone who has Win 7 issues for Star Wars Behind The Magic, please post here right on my Buy/Sell/Trade Thread. I want to show what computers cannot be used and possible work around "Tweaks".

Note that Star Wars Magic runs fine in Windows XP, only Windows 7 64 bit and maybe Windows 32 Bit needs the Registry workaround.
mistermorriss wrote:Hey. I'd love it if you could send me the files.

I've got the CDs, done the RegEdit. It loads but the image is static. Music plays fine. I can ALT/TAB in and out to get different images but nothing much more.

I'm running win7 32.

Thanks in advance, you'd be a lifesaver!

mistermorriss

The extra files are just the regular install folder from the CD
Just to confirm, did a regular install off the CD place a folder with files in the Hard Drive? If so, it is the same files. Or did you first install on a Windows XP computer and copy the \BTM folder to the Win 7 computer? The Registry fix is only for when a regular CD install fails to run. Older Lucas Arts programs are 32 bit, the installers are 16 bit which gives problems in a 64 bit OS system.

CRTGAMER wrote:The Registry fix just points the Win 7 computer in the right direction to run. It is only needed if you do the folder copy and not a regular install.

I think the issue is the video card, is the computer a laptop? Make and Model?

First, undo your Install
1. Uninstall thru the Control Panel or create and run BTMx64 Uninstall.reg to remove the install.
2. Install thru the normal Autorun files off the CD.

I suspect you will get the same results since you reported that Star Wars Magic seems to be running although a garbled screen. If a Laptop, try plugging into a regular computer monitor. You also have a couple of other options.

1. Run in Windows XP or Windows 98 mode.
2. Try different Video card settings, stretch and resolutions.
3. Update the video card driver, again try all the different settings.
4. Install a Dual Boot into the PC using both Windows XP and Windows 7.

The Dual Boot Option is a drastic step, this may be worthwhile if you have other games that do not work in Windows 7. If you have Windows 7 Professional, Microsoft offers for free a complete Windows XP mode for download.

Got me one of the Star Wars sets - really cool stuff in the box, the 4yo was very pleased.

Haven't put the CD's in yet - but will let the boys mess around w/em' over the weekend.

Recommended set!

Re: Up For Trade - Gotcha Force - Star Wars Magic with Win7

Gotcha Force Bump - See OP

Gotcha Force and Star Wars Behind The Magic no longer for sale.

NO MANUAL
At first I thought the disc had small scratches, turns out to be just dusty! Disc is in very good condition, has been tested and runs great. The Gamecube case is in very good condition. The Cover Insert has some wear on the edges, but overall in good shape. NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR TRADE.

captainhavoc wrote:So I was randomly perusing games on ebay/half/amazon and I noticed that Gotcha Force, a Capcom game on the Gamecube, wasn't available on any of the sites, at least in NTSC. Also, Gamestop has only two copies available within a hundred miles of me.

So is it just a brief drought or is Gotcha Force going to be one rare puppy?
