Post Your Defender High Scores

by racketboy Sun Mar 23, 2008 6:47 pm

Share your high scores from Defender right here....
Please list the score and the port you played on.
Screenshots are nice, but not required.

We'll try to tally the high scores on here.

Arcade Version (@ Midway's website, using keyboard)

1st day: 16,275 / 3rd wave (not so bad!) :)

I'm going to redo my post in order to keep it more organized. So far my scores are:

Atari 2600 version: 43,850

SNES version (Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits): 8,275

As far as I can tell the SNES port is identical to the original arcade version, except for the controls that are simplified. I used the default settings, no extra lives and no save states.

Try selecting a different "level". Most Atari 2600 games with tons of "games" as they call them, which are nothing more than variations in difficulty. I remember the highest setting for Defender being wickedly fast.

The Atari 2600 is stupidly easy.

You should try playing it properly on MAME I've got it running in Windoze/OS X/Linux and Symbian. So if anyone needs help emulating it on something other than Windoze just shoot me a PM.

Highest score so far is 6200 . This game is stupidly hard.

(Emulating with MAMEUI (Red Label) and a Gravis Gamepad)

Day 1: 8725
Day 2: 13000: I seriously doubt I will beat this. I swear it was a fluke.
Day 8: 17050: Took a lengthy break, which apparently paid off...

I remember being much better than the 10000 I hit today... Well I guess it is time to break out the two way arcade stick, buttons, and mdf.

18775

Scratch that!

21325!

This game is freaking solid, but so rewarding when you get further and further each time.

The best I could manage today was 13,775 on MAMEUI w/ Dualshock controller. And I'm happy with that score! Definitely a hard game.
