Re: What is your Favorite 2d series?
Only voted for Guilty Gear. I quite like Street Fighter in general but it's also pretty hit&miss, only 3rd Strike stands out to me as a superb game. I haven't devoted enough time to Darkstalkers to call it a favorite of mine and there are too many not-so-great KoF games as well. Hardly played any of the others.
But maybe my view is simply tainted by the respective latest iterations. SFIV is just mashy and boring, KoFXII is a shadow of it's former 98 and 2k2UM self and nobody plays Darkstalkers anymore. GGXXAC on the other Hand is alive and well, the best game of its series and probably my favorite fighter period.

Mortal Kombat for me, the 2d ones anyway the 3d games were garbage. I hope the new mk takes me back to the fun I had on umk3 as a kid.

Street Fighter - If it weren't for Street Fighter..blah..blah..blah
King of Fighters - Innovative for it's time back in '94. And if it weren't for KoF you wouldn't have no 3-on-3, 50+ roster VS series.. Just sayin'..
Fatal Fury - Back when Street Fighter was king, Fatal Fury was the game the hardcore 90's fighting fans played when the lines for SFII were too long..
And no, it wasn't Mortal Kombat, it really was Fatal Fury, youngin'!

Street Fighter - I grew up playing it so it has the nostalgia factor.
Mortal Kombat - Nostalgia factor.
Darkstalkers - Played it once. Want very much to play it again for much longer. It captivated me more than any other 2D fighter has and I've spent considerably more time with every other fighter on this list.

Guilty Gear is just in a league of it's own for me. It's perfection across the board.
Re: What is your Favorite 2d series?
Voted Vs. series, Mortal Kombat, and other. Other just because I have an appreciation for some licensed fighters. Probably would've picked Fatal Fury otherwise.

Street Fighter, Vs. Series and Gundam Battle Assault is awesome. It's too bad Gundam Battle Assault stopped being cool after part 2 =/ Imagine how awesome it would be to play Gundam Battle Assault with the same gameplay as the first 2 and have HD 2D sprites
Re: What is your Favorite 2d series?
I like most of them but I like the Capcom Vs. series the most because I spent so much time on them than any 2D fighters mentioned here.
