Dreamcast version only applies here.
This is one of those topics that has been discussed and debated, but I have never found a clear conclusion. Let's try to put it to bed.
It is somewhat well known that Fatal Fury: Mark of the Wolves for the Dreamcast suffers some sound lag. It appears to happen randomly. Most matches play out without any sound issues at all. Some people have gone for years owning a MotW disc for the DC and have never experienced the sound lag. Another oddity is that only the US version appears to be affected by this.
Like many, I owned MotW for a few years and never experienced the issue. I recently played the game again. Sure enough, the sound would lag by almost a second in random matches. Both versions I played were the US version. Different Dreamcasts, however.
Is it specific copies that have the sound issue? Specific models of Dreamcasts?
Does the Japanese release suffer from this glitch?
Discuss.

What is your TV make and model number?
Some LCDs do have a slight lag.

Playing on a Phillips SDTV. This is a documented issue with the game/console.
Symptoms:
Game plays OK. Sound is OK. During random rounds or matches the sound will lag behind by almost a full second. In the next round or match the sound may return to normal. The glitch appears to be completely random.
It appears to only happen to certain copies of the game or when played on certain consoles. No one has tested the issue to determine whether this is an issue with all US retail copies of the game or if it only happens when played on Dreamcasts from a specific manufacture run/date. The glitch does appear to only affect the US release of the game.

Definitely not the TV. Probably in the game itself, the coding depending which version.

Garou: Mark of the Wolves has always suffered from sound lag on the Dreamcast. The only way to fix this is to download the version that was fixed by TuxTheWise.

Still a really great port despite the sound lag. I wonder if it is in the PS2 version as well.

Thanks for pointing that out!
I believe it has to do with the sounds being read from cd during gameplay.
Last Blade has the same isues if I recall correctly.
Awesome that it was somehow fixed!
Garou is the shizzle. Plays really great! fun.

Found Garou in an MVS multi-cab yesterday. Played it for the first time ever.
Again, I marvel at how much they squeezed out of the Neo Geo hardware. I could easily accept this as an equivalent to Street Fighter 3. It's maybe even better as I actually liked the character design for the entire cast, especially Blue Mary jacket Terry.
And this was just based on 5 minutes of gameplay. Wow.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

Agreed
I play both games on the Regular.
