Perfect emulated systems?

Post by Yackom »

Which systems do you guys think are emulated perfectly or good enough to play currently? and which aren't?

Systems that I think are as close to perfect as you can get: NES, SNES, C-64, SMS/GG, Genesis. Systems that are very playable but quite imperfect: Amiga, Atari 2600, Playstation.

Don't forget MAME, which ranges from near 100% to complete 0% depending on the game. :)

No system is perfectly emulated, BTW.

Yeah I also don't think n64 is quite there either. In my experience most games run great minus the graphic glitches

Playstation is pretty darn good IMO with just a small handful that have issues.
What's nice about MAME (from what I understand) is their philosophy is to have near-perfect emulation on everything at the potential sacrifice of speed. So newer games might look and sound really well, but you'll need a heftier PC for them.

MAME CPS2 and MVS are great. Some day CPS3 and Atomiswave.... sniff...

I think all 16-bit and less cartridge based systems are emulated well enough to play. Possibly with the NeoGeo color as an exception.
