SSF2T in HD on XBLA!

Post by marurun »

You read that right. SSF2T on XBLA in HD. Not pixelated. Completely re-done artwork but same classic, pixel-perfect gameplay. Read at Joystiq for more details:
http://www.joystiq.com/2007/04/13/super ... announced/

Also, for the presentation slide, linked from the Joystiq article...

Dammit, now I want a 360, those bastards!

I'm excited about this, I always thought they should've remade SF2 sometime. Can't wait for the release!

You can't see too much detail from this picture, but you can see the evolution of the sprites being used:

That's the same image as the one at the Gamekult link Joystiq provided. I think it's just more evidence of awesomeness.

If you are interested in this game you should check out Sirlin.net:

In his website he has a lot of interesting stuff to read, but just check the recent blog post concerning this game.

You are so kidding me. He's involved? Given his love of 2D fighters and his SSF2T tutorials, I'd say if he's involved in any way this project is in fine hands.

Very nice. I will paste here what I commented on your article.

I read some of Sirlin's comments on his blog and they will not be adding extra animations or features. They are getting paid simply to port the engine (quad)pixel perfect and add the new art. There will be no tweaks, no extra animation (which would screw up classic move timings anyway), or any of that unless Capcom ponies up money for extras. Right now the contract is for just the basics.
