But maybe he...didn’t?
Re: Good Shmups for the SNES
Ugh, I hate all the Darius games on SNES. Weak soundtracks, slow-firing weapons, and not enough enemy action on-screen. It’s like someone decided Darius was too exciting and needed to be more boring.

Isn’t that pretty much every Darius game, though? Darius Burst is pretty good, but I’ve found the series, as a whole, to be relatively slow-paced.

The screen tends to scroll slowly, but the enemies can be fast and the ship can also fire quite quickly. Darius can become a hectic game in relatively short order. But the SNES installments tend to really make the game feel even slower.

Re: Good Shmups for the SNES
Hey just saw this thread. I still have my work-in-progress SNES shmup guide.
If anyone wants to pitch in on it, lemme know.
I have full entries on the following, but could use help on remainders:
Space Megaforce/Super Aleste
Axelay
UN Squadron
Super EDF
Super R-Type
Macross: Scrambled Valkyrie
Darius Twin
Darius Force / Super Nova

Did I not do a UN Squadron entry? Shame on me! That’s one of the best shooters on the platform!

I think you did that one -- or at least a lot of it, I think. This was a couple years ago, so it's hard to remember all the details.
You are on the Google Doc, so you can give it a look

Re: Good Shmups for the SNES
You have to include R-Type III: The Third Lightning. It is a god-tier shmup. The best on the SNES, in my opinion. Moreover the GBA port was so bad, that the game is still, basically, a SNES exclusive.
I’m happy to pitch in on that game and Super R-Type.

Cool! it's near the top of my lists to do next, but it would be great if you could cover it. Just added you to the Google Doc.

Re: Good Shmups for the SNES
Space Megaforce, R-Type 3 and Axelay are my go to when it comes to shooters on the SNES.
