I didn't realize that was the point. My picks were shmups you might actually beat the first time you play through them.
That was actually what I was wanting this to be about. Brand new games I can breeze through.
I can see how it's probably confusing and it was late and I was tired when I made this.
Updated threat title.
I still hold that my 3 shooters can be one shot. As I said, especially Cotton 100%, which I did 1 shot my first time through.

I totally missed the point of this thread. I'll amend my post since I can't delete it.

Try 3D Fantasy Zone II W. It is one of the best shmup, and you can continue from any level. (You have to 1CC each level to continue; so, it is still challenging.). The multiple endings and branching pathways make it tremendous fun, however, and I likely agree with HG101 rankining it among the greatest games ever made. (It also has a fascinating development history, and I suggest reading up on it.)

Despite loving shooters, I have never played one so easy I could beat it on the first play except for some arcade titles emulated in MAME where I could just quarter feed.

I managed to 1CC Cotton 100% on my first go.
I can't think of a single other shooter where I've beaten it first time though, although the other games I listed here I came close.

Got a game over on the final boss in Cotton 100%.
Real short game though so I'll go through this one again. That damn tree miniboss was annoying as heck and took out a lot of lives.
Absolutely love the graphics in this game, some gorgeous lush SNES backgrounds.

The tree is a pain. Did you choose a magic set with the barrier spell? I didn't die for most of the game thanks to just keeping that spell active pretty much constantly. Only the final boss gave me some trouble.

Nope and I hesitated about that on my first run, I knew I should have picked the barrier!
I did on my second run and it definitely went a lot smoother.
