Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (Completed)
Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (January - Espgaluda)
Am I doing something wrong? I just got to the last boss' final form with 5 lives and proceeded to get my ass handed to me. I have gotten to this part well over 20 times ans have yet to beat it. It really is starting to piss me off.
Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (January - Espgaluda)
TSTR - 3,861,670 - Ageha - 3 - MAME
Can someone simply explain the scoring in this? I don't think I really get it.

[this post was edited/deleted due to errors on my part.]
I'll have a score update later today.

Right, so it's about hitting that multiplier in Kakusei mode on bullet-spewing enemies. Is there any scoring benefit to Overmode?
Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (January - Espgaluda)
This thread on the Shmups forum (posted again since I just edited my previous post) explains all the scoring a little bit better.
In Overmode, the longer you stay in it, the more points you can potentially get, but the bullets are faster and there may be more of them on the screen. I was wrong about the red circular meter (which is why I edited my previous post), that meter is used in Overmode. When it fills up, you get another "level" in Overmode, which increases your points potential. It's a sort of risk/reward system. I think the best thing to do is go into Kakusei when there's a ton of enemies/bullets on screen, you get more gold, which in turn, gets you more points.

Word. Yeah I tried to read that shmups thread, but it got a little unwieldy.

It did for me too, quite honestly. But I've played it elsewhere and maybe some more people can weigh in on good scoring tips.
Anyway, here's my score.
ExedExes - 6,108,170 - Stage 4 - Ageha - MAME
And the scores so far -
Kidpanda - 21,401,770 - Ageha - Stage 5 (Boss) - PCB
hashiriya1 - 13,843,490 - Stage 4 - Ageha - PS2
Tiduas - 8,519,980 - Ageha - Stage 4 - MAME
Spike - 6,203,880 - Ageha - Stage 3 - PS2
ExedExes - 6,108,170 - Stage 4 - Ageha - MAME
TSTR - 3,861,670 - Ageha - Stage 3 - MAME
We also have a dedicated Espgaluda high score thread right here in this very subforum, so if you beat your old score there (or haven't ranked in there yet), feel free to post it there too, that thread needs a love bump!

Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (January - Espgaluda)
DocHauser - 18,818,590 - Ageha - Stage 5 (Boss) - Shmupmame 4.2
Not quite my best score. Like Kidpanda, I feel like I should have cleared this by now...
Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (January - Espgaluda)
TSTR - 5,967,500 - Ageha - Stage 3 (Boss) - MAME
Improvement!
Improvement!
Re: Shmup of the Month Club 2016 (January - Espgaluda)
And a good improvement at that.
I just went to the dedicated Espgaluda thread - my score there is 11 million. Obviously I need to figure out the scoring myself, as well
