Re: STGT Week 2 - Lords of Thunder
If anyone's looking to emulate this one, Ootake is a pretty good emulator for PC Engine/TurboGrafx CD rom games. From what I remember, you might need to mount the disc image, but this is pretty easy to do using Daemon Tools Lite.

I got TurboEngine & Virtual Clone Drive. Tested it and it works.

Ok - i'll be relying on my teammates to hook me up with info. I have no idea what is going on here. There's what appears to be a UN Squadron type mechanic of earning gems and buying powerups. No idea on the elements (wind, fire, earth, water).
I do have two questions for the entire group:
Is there ever a hi-score screen? Maybe you have to hit a certain score to get in a top 10 or something?
Also - is there any (score) advantage to selecting different starting points? IE, do we need to play default stage - or is it ok to pick and choose as one sees fit?

I have a rules question. Are we allowed to purchase elixirs?
They refill your health when you run out, functioning as an extra life.

I would say YES. Assuming you are buying that as an upgrade instead of say a stronger shot or whatnot, right? So long as it's in the main game and not via some cheat code - it's all good.

if someone can explain how to get this working on PC step-by-step, that would be helpful. I've not messed w/ TG16 emulation at all.

This walkthrough video looks thorough enough to get you going. YouTube Link

The lack of a score screen has me perplexed as well. I consciously had to just look at my score right before I died after only getting to the end boss of a second stage. My score was 310,000. :-/
