Homing bullets work great. Takes care of those guys who come charging in, and you're damaging the boss. All you have to do is anticipate which direction the boss is going to move and dodge accordingly.

It's weird, IDK how it happens, but certain combos give you "new" weapons. Somehow I ended up getting lasers that are aimed at the enemies.
I've been using the Vulcan and 5-Way shot, mostly.

Just keep collecting the "L" to power up the laser.
I found a copy the other day at a game shop.

That's actually a pretty decent price, a bit less than what I paid for my CIB copy of the game.

Oh, turns out I wasn't paying attention to the levels and that previous score was only the Stage 2 boss. Anyway, I did make it onto Stage 3...
