HEy decided to make thread for this since I couldn't locate it.

Want to know how many People are famialier with this particular import Fighter Called "Phantom Breaker Extra"

A fighter available for both 350 and ps3.

An interesting Fighter that has alot of mechanics inspire from many fighter alike. You have your dial a chain attacks, dash attacks, special move, and plenty of cancel option and other more defensive stuff like clashes, parry, dodge, reflection, guard cancel, amour attack and health reg. Their even misc mechanics like OTGs, Final desperation, power up states, fatal counter, and burst to get out of hitstun.

These are all universal mechanics available to player with some limitation base on style, which is another interesting element. The game incorporate a style system that appear similar to SNK's Last blade series where you have Quick that emphasize on using speed, Hard with emphasize on power, and Extra which is hybrid of the two.

The game has 20 characters. (2 being unlocked guest character, and another 2 being ex version of preexisting characters) All which are pretty unique with failry ballance system.

But what really caught my attention in PBE is control lay out. It opts to play like simple fighter where majority of action have simple inputs. one is the the dial chain combos are similar to P4A's Auto combo with A attacks. How ever each normal attack have it own unique chain. Light chains, medium chains, and hard chains. But your also not limited by your chains as you have low attacks, dash attacks, and extra normal. A player wont get full combo of chain as some will have gaps use as low or overheads. Also special and commands still must be inputted manually.

You have special button and pressing it with conjunction with direction gives your specials. their usually only 3 commands with down special, left special, and right special, But you also have light, medium, and heavy making your move set respectively 9 for each character.

I'd heard of but never played it. Is the game region free for Xbox360?

There is a spin-off beat'em up on the the Xbox live service (and soon for PSN) called Phantom Breaker: Battlegrounds which I think is a pretty excellent title. Weird how the spin-off was released before the main game.

Yep. I had the original (region locked 360 release) and also have Extra for PS3. :) Fun game. The simple inputs make it pretty easy for anyone to jump in and do pretty well.

Definitely looking forward to the Battlegrounds Vita release. I have the 360 version of that as well.

Haha. I don't have an extra copy. I bought Phantom Breaker Extra for PS3. From the Japanese PSN store to be specific. In fact, I only buy physical copies when 100% necessary now. So the only thing you'll see me selling besides hardware/accessories in the near future is Project DIVA f 2nd Japanese retail for the Vita when the US release comes around. :P

yea its region free on both system. Ironically while I did reccomended the beatem up spsin off in the beaten up thread. I must admit i was little dissapointed. The game was compare to guardian heros, for good reason too considering mages and treasure have freindly relationship with each other and even work together on few projects.

PBBG was suppose to be homage to treasure and their release of guardian hero. But i feel it does a poor job on it.

Probaly my main gripes is

1. Infinites galor, as long player are smart enough to level up only certian commands set, breeezing thrue the game becomes easy. including bossed.

2. locking difficulties, maybe im just stubborn but i dont like how i have to unlock difficulties. just see arbitraty

3. paid to win. Thegame has level cap at 50, how ever those who choose to get the kurisu dlc, wil be allow to level up to 99. Now this becomes paid tp win as the battle ground mode ( vs mode) allow you to use only "developed" character. Also their no such thing as mirror matches. Considering how their can be up to 4 participant in small roster game, just seem like huge oversight.

@cha cha= "Yeah im kind of fiend when it comes to things name breakers. I am even reading a manwa called "breakers new wave"

For those who wish to purchase Phantom Breaker: Extra on the Japanese PSN, it's available for 2,160 yen. Which is quite a steal.
