I love how many of these solid fighting games are getting online play again. I really wish more of them had physical releases like Darkstalkers did (SFIIHD, Third Strike, MVC2, etc) but still. This is great news as I hold CVS2 up there will Third Strike and Mark Of The Wolves.

as a ps2 classic, so i guess that means no online play and therefor no reason for me to buy it

fuck. I got so excited I totally missed that detail. That sucks. Forget it.

Yup just a straight port of the PS2. No online multiplayer, no HD filters etc. It's good I suppose for anyone who doesn't own a retail release of the game. That said I have every version of the game (even the nasty GCN and OXB versions) so its big deal.

I'm so angry I sold my PS2 copy many years ago.

The gamecube version is inferior in just about every major area. It has the worst audio (way too compressed), the longest load times (which I find very strange), the visual look pretty washed out overall. Worst controls, heavily altered gameplay from its Coin Op, DC, PS2 counterpart.

The xbox version also suffers from the same re-balance changes that the cube version sustains but there's more. The game was released with a pretty nasty bug where the game music cuts out completely when you KO your opponent with any flash finisher (Super moves standard KO finish or Finest KO"s). The music will remain muted until the entire team match is completed and you move on to the next stage. Capcom fixed the issue with a simple downloadable patch that the game would download automatically thru XBL.

This, especially the controls part, it is just brutal. Glad to see someone whose opinion I tend to rely noticed the same things.

I always thought the faded color vibrancy on the game on GCN was perhaps a result of my generic Svideo cable I use on the system (even though I also use them on my 64 and SNES and it looks fine). At some point I found Svideo cables for my Wii as well, so I popped in CVS2 on it and lo and behold, the games visual looked just as bland and dull looking.

If you have a Dreamcast, that version seems to be pretty affordable these days if you look around. With a Agetec stick, 640x480 31 Khz resolution. It really is the superior port.
