favorite controller for fighting games
Well like the topic says whats your alltime favorite controller/stick for fighting games. i bring this up because mines kinda unconventional and possibly blasphemy. i love the original xbox controller for fighters i have adapters for my ps2 and gamecube to use the giant xbox controller on them. the button layout is perfect and it just fits my hands like a glove. i can pull off hadokens and sheryukens perfectly. i think that what controller you use in fighters is 100% personal preference and has alot to do with what you first played fighters on and learned on. My first fighting game was capcom vs snk 2 on my xbox and i guess i just adapted to it. so lets hear about what you use

I've said it before, but i've always found the official genesis 6-button pad to be a tad more comfortable than the saturn one. Only edge the saturn has for me is the shoulder buttons really.
Too bad most genesis fighters are simply better in their SNES versions.

You are joking right?
I generally don't like pads for fighting games but if I had to pick one it would be the Saturn Model 2 pad. The GC pad has to be the worst.

For fighters, absolutely. That d-pad is just impossible.
I love it for a lot of other things though.

I just got this recently:
http://eightarc.com/qanba-q4-black
Works for PS3, 360 and PC. It's pretty freaking amazing. Gotta handle too so it's easy to lug around.
It we aren't talking about pads, a Saturn-style controller. I currently use a Brawl Pad to play Marvel 3, since I can't seem to play that particular game with a stick. But yeah, with any other game, I use the Qanba.

Agreed, its generally a great controller, really comfortable and everything else, but its useless for fighters unless you are one of these people that can DP on an thumbstick. I find the notches in the gate make it slightly easier to pull off a roll.AppleQueso wrote:Curlypaul wrote:The GC pad has to be the worst.

No, I'm serious. I have played many fighting games in PS2, 2D and 3D, and I found the PS2 controller (mainly the Logitech wireless one) to be the best controller for fighting games on PS2 IMO. It has 2 additional buttons for fighting games, allowing players to perform medium punch and kick. In addition, the Logitech wireless PS2 controller's D-pad is fighting game-friendly enough to perfectly execute Hadoken or Shoryuken-type movements.
