Re: Your top 5 favorite fighting games?
my list of all times:
Alpha 2 - I loved SFII, but Alpha2 was where the game really clicked with me. I took everything SFII taught me and had a new playground to use those skills! Game also has some of the best music ever!
Killer Instinct - I loved this game coz I was real young at the arcade and nobody could beat me!! Once the console version came out on SNES, I was able to learn the whole roster and was unstoppable! I picked up on glitches pretty fast too whenever I saw better players from out of town.
Tekken 6 - never really got into Tekken until DR came out on PSP. I loved it, and T6 didnt take anything away from DR. Definitely a great step forward and a ton of fun.
3rd Strike - this is all I played in college. Before the Daigo parry vid, there was a local arcade here in SoCal (Family Fun) that had a very booming 3S scene while fighters were in its dark period. Once that video came out, everyone at my college stopped playing CVS2 and went to 3S lol.
GGXX Accent Core - my favorite fighter! definitely the one I have played most competitively. When the original XX came out I studied match vids so much and learned how to play 4 characters rather competently (Axl, Anji, Testament, and Eddie). Unfortunately I stopped once #R came out, but began playing again at Accent Core. By this time, all the players who had not stopped playing were kicking my ass real hard, and I only had the time to relearn 1 character: Axl, but I still had a ton of fun!
I am really lookin forward to Accent Core coming out for consoles with online play!

#1: Garou Mark of the Wolves
#2: King of Fighters 1998
#3: Capcom vs SNK 2
#4: Marvel vs Capcom 3
#5: Soul Calibur II
#5.5: Super Smash Brothers Melee
I'll actually be looking to update the Dreamcast fighting games article on this site once I'm done working on a racing games article (currently posted in the Sega forum.)
Gonna see about describing the competitive nature of each game, which ports are the most authentic and clearing out some of the misconceptions like the exact differences between Street Fighter Alpha 3 on Dreamcast vs Saturn and arcade.
And also the claim that Mark of the Wolves on Dreamcast is some awful port, when it's completely authentic to the actual gameplay and all complaints are quibbles and also blown out of proportion by piracy (and thus agitated sound issues.)

OM NOM NOM!!
I find it funny that I posted almost 4 years ago....looking back...little has changed. Instead of Virtua Fighter 5, it is Virtua Fighter 5: Final Shodown...my list still stands!
